Program Description
Since 1975, the Bachelor of Individualized Study (BIS) program has been Mason’s adult degree completion program focused only on adult learners and their individual educational goals. Designed as a flexible degree‑completion program for adult learners who want to finish their bachelor’s degree on their own terms.
Offered 100% online through the School of Individualized Study at George Mason University, this interdisciplinary program allows students to design a personalized academic pathway aligned with their professional goals, prior coursework, and life experience.
Ideal for students age 25 and older with transfer credits, the BIS program emphasizes career advancement, preparation for graduate study, and lifelong learning, providing individualized advising and a supportive, adult‑focused learning environment.
Completing a degree is a challenge with many factors affecting that decision. Prior school challenges, finances, family responsibilities, and work all play a role. We offer you encouragement to explore how BIS has been strategically developed to help you finish.
