Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)

Canvas is your central hub for online learning at George Mason. This platform enables you to access and manage online course materials, assignments, discussions, and grades, as well as communicate with instructors and collaborate with fellow students.  We have courses, guides, tutorials and support links to help as you navigate Canvas.

Online Meeting Tools

George Mason faculty use Zoom and Canvas Collaborate for online classes. Below are some resources to help you get started on Zoom.

Email

George Mason will provide you with a free email account that you will be able to activate once you are registered. Your account is hosted by Microsoft on its Office 365 platform. We also provide a very effective and free anti-spam service that filters spam on George Mason email accounts.

Exams

Your instructor will choose and share how they will administer exams.  Most exams for online Courses will be administered through Canvas or Honorlock, for proctored exams.

Computer and Operating System Requirements

Check your current technology resources to ensure you have the minimum and recommended laptop specifications needed to use software and online meeting platforms. Mason Online fully supports both Windows and Apple laptops.

  • Mac OS Ventura 13.5, Sonoma 14.5 or newer
