Program Description

This program is designed for K-12 educators who are interested in blending online and face-to-face instruction, teaching fully-online courses, or evaluating online educational options. This program adds a valuable dimension to professional teaching qualifications, signifying advanced knowledge and expertise to employers. Subject to your school division guidelines, students may be able to earn professional development credits for taking courses in this program. It is expected that applicants to this program have a valid K-12 state licensure, but exceptions can be made for those teaching in private schools or other contexts where state licensure is not required.

What it costs

The cost for this program is $693.25 per credit hour for VA state residents, $893.25 per credit hour for Non-VA residents. There is a 15% PreK-12 VA Educators Discount available for VA state residents who are eligible and apply. See the Cost tab below for a breakdown of tuition and fees. Application Deadline

This program has a priority application deadline of April 1 for Fall, with a final deadline of August 15. The priority deadline for Spring is November 1, with a final deadline of January 4. New students may begin in the fall and spring semesters. As part of a cohort, you will not need to worry about which courses to take or when courses will be offered, as each course builds upon the previous.

 

Please Note: In addition to the tuition and fees described, various course and lab fees may be assessed depending on the course(s) in which the student is enrolled. Please refer to the Students Accounts Office website for more information on tuition and fees. Internship courses will incur a higher CEHD course fee to fund on-site assistance involving intensive clinical training/supervision.

*VA state residents who are eligible must apply for the 15% PreK-12 VA Educators Discount in order to take advantage of the lower tuition. Discount applies to tuition and mandatory student fees only.

Prerequisites

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree from a US institution that is accredited by one of the organizations found here with a 3.0 GPA in the last 60 credits of study is required (Some applicants with a lower GPA may be admitted provisionally if there is sufficient evidence of potential success)
  • Applicants to this program are expected to have a valid K-12 state licensure, but exceptions can be made for those teaching in private schools or other contexts where state licensure is not required
